When Lines Blur between Reality and Fiction

“With these Hands — Wonder” http://carol-allen-anfinsen.pixels.com

Most People seek the truth. They want to believe in what is real; what is factual. But the media has long given up on gathering facts and are now focused on distortion and white lies. They’ve become promoters of their own personal ideology and political bias, and are focused on manipulating truth. Many participants take words out of context and turn conviction into lies. They prevent their audiences from getting an objective viewpoint or in hearing both sides.

Now unabashedly the FBI and the Justice Department have begun to skirt the law. Even the Supreme Court is ignoring their allegiance to the Constitution and the people dishonoring their positions and personal honor in order to promote an agenda that is underhandedly dark and holds serious repercussions for the future of this nation.

Remember when a handshake was not only respected in a contract or agreement, but engraved in stone because people considered their word sacrosanct and lawful? Now we can no longer trust our leaders who we thought were held to a higher standard. As a matter of fact, most of us don’t trust anyone. We’re afraid of a sales call, of identity theft, of scammers that assault us day and night.

Those elected to power are mainly concerned with their own careers. In their personal view and thinking “the ends justify the means.” Their allegiance to the electorate whom they serve no longer matters. How did we sink so low? What has caused this fall of national character into the murky abyss of slime where right and wrong have been muddied in a grab for power?

Prior to her husband’s election as President of the United State, Michelle Obama said “I’m ashamed of my Country.”  After almost eight years of Obama leadership, I can say in return “I’m not only ashamed of my country, I fear for its future.”

We have become a Godless people more concerned with our personal pleasures than in our own honesty and integrity. The decline in American values is evident. We have turned honorable men and women into puppets of the state. Our greed for power has tainted our judgment. Our leaders have become dictators, and our loyal servants have become dishonest politicians grubbing for position and control.

The heart of America is rotting from the core. There are a few glimmers of hope. When a crisis emerges, we still stand together. When people die, we are there to give compassion and support. But even in the midst of this, we are divided. We ignore crime and the law in favor of prejudice and popular opinion. Many segments of the population have become a mob mentality. It doesn’t matter what the laws say, they break it. If they don’t like the outcome, they stand against the enforcers who have pledged to keep us safe. In turn, lawbreakers are shielded by their leaders and mob violence is often encouraged and allowed.

Armadillo 001

(These young armadillos visited us early one morning.)

Both political correctness and designated “hate speech” are becoming a law unto themselves setting a dangerous precedent in overruling existing Constitutional law. As a result, people are becoming afraid of spontaneous speech or of expressing an opinion. Free speech is being set on its ear by self-appointed enforcers who label someone’s opinion as prejudiced or hateful. Recently some university students uttered “I hate the first amendment. We don’t want these people (those with opposing views) on our campus.”

These students are too young to remember Hitler and his brutal regime when hate speech was lauded and opposing opinions were stifled. Our Founding Fathers must be quaking in their boots in fear that all they worked so hard to achieve is being destroyed.

We have one of the most important elections in our time coming up in November. Will we disregard what history can teach us? Will we put our personal stamp, our thumb print, in support of lawlessness, dishonesty and Godlessness? Or will we uphold the principles that made America great for all people and not just the few in power?

This division we now feel in our country did not come from the ground up, but from the top down. Good leaders inspire the best in their followers. They lead by example and truth. The chaos in our country and the world has been allowed to happen. The Middle East has been blown apart by incompetence and falsehoods.

Socialism and totalitarianism are not the answer. You just have to examine their roots and results to understand their automatic downfall. Freedom isn’t lawlessness or pitting one group of people against another. Class warfare is a communist tactic. Morally it is bribery with the intent of getting what you want.

Freedom isn’t free just because you want it to be so. Freedom is the result of sacrifice, honor, and hard work. If you’re not up to it, someone else may be and the result is your neck under the boot of oppression. Please friends, vote judiciously and prayerfully.

The Dangers of Socialism are ignored Because of Promised Perks

In America, the Land of Plenty, we’ve grown soft. Many of us have experienced affluence, opportunity, security, a good education and a clear path to success.

According to a recent article by Cal Thomas “51% of young people between the ages of 18-29 do not support capitalism; yet even the poorest American lives better and has more opportunity for advancement than most of the rest of the world.

“Why does socialism receive such strong support among the young?” Thomas writes. “Could it be that socialism A.K.A communism is being peddled in our schools, and that newspapers and demagogues in the higher echelons of government are pushing socialism because it makes them richer and more powerful (votes)? After all, who wouldn’t rather get a check than earn one?

Thomas uses quotes to point out the fallacies of Socialism “both its false promise and its danger:”

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” – Winston Churchill

“The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.” – Margaret Thatcher

“The goal of socialism is communism,” Vladimir Lenin (No matter how many times Bernie and Hillary deny it!).

“Capitalism and its political sister, democracy, offer opportunity, not guaranteed outcome. Socialism is mutually shared poverty.” Cal Thomas

My previous blog was also politically motivated. We are in a critical juncture in America. We are leaving behind the principles that guided us in the past, and we are treating with disdain those Constitutional precepts that have made our country great for more than two hundred years. We are allowing our emotions and our lusts to determine our choices rather than history’s lessons of the past, truth or common sense.

Young people who embrace the promises and slogans of socialism should travel more to gain a perspective on what this lifestyle means. When I was last in Germany the wall was still up splitting the city of Berlin right down the middle. We were able to compare modern Berlin to its poverty-stricken sister in the East.

We cowered as we showed our passports and boarded the train. Eerie quiet confronted us on the east side as we walked into the first plaza. Red Soviet flags hung from many of the buildings. I was about to take a photo and was told by an uniformed guard that photographs were not allowed.

We used a lavatory in the visitor’s building. Coarse paper was in some cases provided as was a half-used bar of soap. We discovered later that toilet paper in East Berlin was in short supply.

People spoke softly or very little. We stumbled into a small café at lunchtime and discovered it filled with workers on their break. All eyes were upon us as we sat down. Then their private conversations continued. We were able to order something to eat and chose what the locals were having: a bowl of soup and a slice of bread.

We were able to bring a few souvenirs across the border upon our return. I chose some ordinary shops; a hardware store and a small department store. I wanted to see what the residents normally purchased and how they lived. I came home with a small shelf that was nailed with wooden pegs, and two planters that were made without any nails. We also bought our children a Russian set of nesting dolls made in the Ukraine.

It became obvious by the end of the day that the people lived simply and in constant fear. They, and us, were being watched and monitored. If the citizens received any goods or services from “The State” it was not obvious. When people are entrapped and they can’t travel or purchase fine things for themselves, they are nothing more than prisoners and slaves in their own land.

In socialism and communism the only people who eat well and spend luxuriously are the ruling class. Everyone else is a ward of the state. What happens is the ambitious and powerful rise to the top while the regular folks, the workers fall into poverty and stagnation.

Is shared poverty what you want? Will you trade your freedoms for dependency and submission? In the beginning having free healthcare, free education and food sounds fantastic. But all that glitters is not gold. Someone has to pay the piper and it just might be you.

Control – Oh, the Power it Wields!

Human nature is embarrassingly obvious. Whoever possesses the power is in control. Politicians seize it in the guise of helping the electorate; but instead, they vote themselves better health care, bigger raises, and huge pensions for retirement income.

They change the laws to suit their contributors. They vote out term limits so they can keep getting re-elected using the same lies they did when they first got elected. If the people in the states they represent feel like they’re getting the benefits, they grant them power for another term.

Today the establishment elite are afraid of losing that power. In their efforts to gain control, they are using lies and corruption to create a climate for take-over. Will the people allow it? In this “government of the people” are the elites once again trying to deceive in order to regain what for them is almost lost?

The whole affair makes me sick to my stomach. Because I support Trump, I’m tired of being told I’m not smart, I’m stupid, I’m a “far right loon” or worse. And this does not come from the democrats, but from the party I have supported not only with my votes, but with my money.

Many are backing off because they shun the labels the media and the establishment sling at them. So rather than be called an ignoramus for following Trump “the clown,” they fall in line behind the establishment candidates. Cowards! If we cease to stand for what we believe and blindly follow behind the demagogues who are beholden to their lobbyists and donors and not to “we the people,” America is lost.

If Donald Trump wins the delegate votes, isn’t it unconstitutional to try to take them away from him after the people have spoken? Romney thinks he has the power to take them away. If he is the shadow candidate, he not only won’t win, Hillary will get the nomination.

The “Rhinos” don’t care who wins as long as they can keep feeding at the trough courtesy of John Q. Public. But surprise! The more they sling mud at the Trump campaign, the more followers he obtains and this has the establishment in an angry frenzy of desperation. Poor little Marco thinks he has a shot at being President, but he’s only a pawn in the game to push Romney to the head of the pack.

The same power struggle happens in marriage. The one who has financial control, usually holds the winning hand. Sometimes money is withheld in order to manipulate or hurt. At other times the power may be used in the bedroom to withhold sex or affection. Power is often used to intimidate, embarrass, or belittle. Weak people are more likely to use this power to hurt others. The perpetrators may be male or female.

Greed and selfishness are at the center of all power disputes. Facts are distorted. Reputations are sullied. Self-respect and self-esteem are both destroyed. There are no winners. But in this election year, it is not a game. It’s a matter of life and death. Our country is so saddled by debt it is already on the verge of collapse. Our Constitution is in shreds. Our precious rights and liberties are being eroded to the point of no return and both parties are guilty of their destruction.

You can’t afford to be ignorant when you vote. Study the issues. Read both sides of an argument and determine the facts. If you don’t really care then please don’t vote. The right to vote was earned by someone else’s blood and tears. Some even lost their lives in preserving freedom. At this critical juncture in American history you can’t afford to sit this one out. Remember the saying: “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” We must keep the power with the people.

Ironies that Fool, Deceive, and Humor

Standard

"Mother and Child" 11 x 14 brush drawing

Ironies that Fool, Deceive, and Humor:

  • People who constantly remind others of their honesty usually aren’t!

Case in point: I had a Real Estate Agent who had the habit of repeating the end of each sentence. She wanted me to trust her advice and opinion and told me how thorough and wonderful she was. She concluded by saying “I’m so honest, I stink, I stink, I stink.” Hey, I believed her! I found a new Realtor.

  • Those who use high-sounding rhetoric to make promises they cannot keep are usually full of baloney!

Take the current winner of 10 Pinocchio’s according to the Washington Post: our current President Obama. He has promised what he has not delivered, and continues to use the same rhetoric to declare his promises were true. Results matter! Words cannot distort the facts! Trust must be earned not given.

  • Most Hollywood elites want gun control yet they are the first to promote gun violence in theater.

Money at the box office and in their pockets seems to make up for the lack of integrity and Constitutional smarts these buffoons display.

  • The very people who espouse a one-size-fits-all doctrine for others are the same ones who tailor their own wants and needs in specifics.

Our legislators, our government has one set of policies and rules for us and another for themselves. They have their own tailor-made health care plan, refusing to sign up for Obama Care.

When they retire from governing, most have accrued sizable bank accounts and a guaranteed retirement income equal to or better than their current salaries courtesy of the American tax payer.

  • A code of ethics works only when people are honest. The dishonest will always find a way or ways to bypass, ignore, or corrupt the system.

  • People spend exorbitant amounts of money on their pets and rescue animals, yet they cannot find room in their hearts for one more baby.

Human infants are at risk. They are currently an “endangered species.” We are fast failing to replace ourselves in numbers. Who will take care of the next generation’s aging population?

And that’s my two cents! What’s yours?

Trust should be Earned not Given Away!

Standard

a-perfect-ending-carol-allen-anfinsen

Who do you Trust and Why? Do you give your trust away to just anybody because they have a nice smile or they seem sincere?

I used to think that I could trust the FDA or their acclaimed messengers who tell us what not to eat, what to drink, and what to wear. You know, the messengers of doom and gloom. Well not anymore!

Remember when eggs were bad for you? They were supposed to increase cholesterol and add bad fats into your bloodstream. Some people still believe that yarn. They refuse to eat eggs and continue to eat egg substitutes that are not as healthy for you.

Then the truth came out. Eggs are actually good for you. Since part of the brain is made up of cholesterol, the vitamins and fats in eggs are healthy and needed (as long as you eat only one a day). Oh, how the food police love to control what you eat and how much!

I may not have the proper jargon, and I’m not a nutritionist, but I recognize the red flag for “regulation” when I see it. If the government can regulate it, they can tax it.

Take the latest fear mongering episode: “antibacterial gels may be bad for your health and may not eliminate all bacteria.” If that’s not enough to put the fear of death and disease into every mother’s heart, I don’t know what is.

Like a true believer, I examined my bottles of germ exterminator for the sinister “t” ingredients. Then it occurred to me that this was just another contrived ploy. J.Q. Public was being manipulated, once again, into ignoring and perhaps celebrating the new regulation that is sure to eliminate these evil “t’s.”

So what if the price goes up and the government adds to its coffers as long as my children are protected? We’re either scared into or shamed into compliance. The problem is the frequency of the scare tactics are beginning to sound a lot like the firing of a machine gun. The repetition is grating and sounds hollow, and the message content is starting to smell, too.

Instead of helping society solve problems, people are beginning to shut down and ignore the numerous warnings. I for one don’t listen to their advice (their meaning the government, the advertisers, and the regulators). I know if I wait another few months, the threat will either go away or it will change. What was bad for us last year, or even yesterday, is now good for us. If we are patient enough, the problem will just disappear.

This is not the way to get people to wake up and listen! Remember the color-coded threat levels after the 9/11 terrorist attacks? When the threat level went from orange to red, did you change your behavior? Did your life style morph into one of submission and fear, or did you continue your daily routines without interruption?

We all reach a boiling point; an irreversible mindset that simply cannot take any more. People are becoming shell-shocked. We’re getting a barrage of conflicting information and we’re on overload. It seems that the regulators, the government, and the panic police have cried “wolf” once too often. It’s time to revolt, people! We either stand up for the freedom that our forefather’s fought for, or we cower in the dust and let our fears overtake us.

The majority used to rule; now a vocal minority has taken over the airways and is demanding to make our decisions for us. Through bombastic pronouncements, they are taking away free speech (except for themselves), personal freedoms and the right to worship. They have pushed political correctness into ridiculous realms and attacked the very values and principles that made this country strong.

The bad medicine they prescribe for us should not to be taken. Instead, we must take up pen, and voice, and our power at the voting booth (perhaps even in the streets) until we prevail.
